What is a fitness category
The fitness category is the conclusion of a military medical commission on the candidate’s state of health in relation to military service. It shows whether a person is fit and with what restrictions. The category is determined based on the results of a medical examination as part of the selection.
The system of categories is unified and covers the entire range of conditions - from complete suitability to complete unsuitability. Understanding what each letter means helps you assess prospects in advance, although the commission always has the final say.
What does each category mean?
- "A" - fit for military service, without significant health restrictions
- “B” - suitable with minor restrictions (fit for service, but with reservations for individual loads)
- "B" - limited suitability (possibility of service depends on conditions and specific diseases)

- “D” - unfit for military service
What categories are contracted with?
Categories “A” and “B” are fitness for service. Candidates with it are selected in the general manner. The difference is that “B” allows for minor health restrictions that do not interfere with service in most positions - they can influence the choice of specialty, but do not block the path as a whole.
Category “B” means limited suitability, and here everything is individual. Some conditions that give “B” do not prevent the conclusion of a contract, some are included in the list of restrictions. Therefore, for category “B” it is impossible to give an unambiguous answer in absentia - you need to look at the specific diagnosis and conditions.
Categories “G” and “D” are temporary unusable and unusable. With “G”, time is given for recovery, after which a re-examination is carried out.
